A New Dawn
03:56
|
|||
Safely sleeping now
My princess waiting
The world is full of things
That only want to hurt you
Might not be good at this
I don't want to fail you
I only promise that
I never will desert you
I won't wake you till the sunrise
I will protect you, girl
From the things that I did
Nothing in this world
Means as much as you will
Safely sleeping now
My princess waiting
Hiding from the world
I won't let them hurt you
I won't wake you till the sunrise
I won't wake you
Until the sunrise
Until you arrive
My dawn in autumn
My sleeping beauty
My fire in the sky
I won't wake you

Going Nowhere
03:02
|
|||
We're going nowhere at a hundred miles an hour
The universe is slipping away from me
You're the one
Who promised me
Something I can't refuse
I used to picture you alone among the trees
Making music is the cure for my disease
You're beautiful
Just because life wasn't yours to choose
I hear you call
I ran to see you
But there was no-one there
You know I need you
You know I need you
But you and I are going nowhere
You know you turned me into what I'm meant to be
Even though you never said a word to me
Everyone slips away when they've nothing left to lose
I know you talk of going nowhere in your sleep
But if you follow me I'll end up far too deep
Everything I've ever done
I did it all for you

Three Score and Ten
04:13
|
|||
I think I see a host of craft
Spread their sails alee
As down the Humber they do glide
Towards the cold North Sea
I see on each small craft a crew
A crew with hearts so brave
Out to earn their daily bread
Upon the restless waves
And it's three score and ten boys and men
Were lost from Grimsby town
From Yarmouth down to Scarborough
Many hundreds more were drowned
Our herring craft, our trawlers
Our fishing smacks as well
They long to fight that bitter night
And battle with the swell
I think I see them yet again
They leave the land behind
Cast their nets into the sea
Those fishing shoals to find
I think I see them yet again
And all on board's alright
With the sails close-reefed
And the decks cleared up
And the sidelights burning bright
October's night was such a sight
Was never seen before
With masts and spars and broken yards
Came floating to the shore
There was many a heart of sorrow
There was many a heart so brave
And many a hearty fisher-lad
Who found a watery grave

The Game
03:49
|
|||
I sail
You float
You fail
I gloat
I dream
You play
You leave
I stay
It's not important
It's not a game
But we are playing all the same
I speak
You try
You loved
I lied
I stick
You stay
You buy
I pay

The Night Draws Closer
05:24
|
|||
On a bridge over the water
He wonders if he ought to let her fly away
So he can disappear
He takes a breath and wanders
To the music over yonder in the field
As the night is drawing closer
He wonders why he chose her
As his friends are leaving, one-by-one, in twos
In vain, he tries to phone her
Alone but not as lonely as he feels
Leave me, leave it be
We're dancing alone
In love with the idea
He realises that fear of being alone
Is all that makes him carry on
The night is drawing closer
It just feels better dancing on his own
Leave me, leave it be
We're dancing alone
He lies awake at night, contemplating life
He wants it to be over
He wonders if it feels the way it always feels
As the night is drawing closer
Leave me, leave it be
We're dancing alone
On a bridge over the water
He wonders if he ought to let her fly away
So he can disappear
He takes a breath and wanders
To the music over yonder in the field
